The 1954 United States Supreme Court decision in Oliver L. Brown et.al. v. the Board of Education of Topeka (KS) et.al. is among the most significant judicial turning points in the development of our country. Originally led by Charles H. Houston, and later Thurgood Marshall and a formidable legal team, it dismantled the legal basis for racial segregation in schools and other public facilities. Brown v. Board of Education was not simply about children and education. The laws and policies struck down by this court decision were products of the human tendencies to prejudge, discriminate against, and stereotype other people by their ethnic, religious, physical, or cultural characteristics. Ending this behavior as a legal practice caused far reaching social and ideological implications, which continue to be felt throughout our country. The Brown decision inspired and galvanized human rights struggles across the country and around the world. The Brown decision initiated educational and social reform throughout the United States and was a catalyst in launching the modern Civil Rights Movement. Bringing about change in the years since the Brown case continues to be difficult. But the Brown v. Board of Education victory brought this country one step closer to living up to its democratic ideas. http://brownvboard.org/summary/
I think this law is great because as an african american i know have the opportunity to go to college without being harassed unlike when my grandparents while they were growing up. This law gives everybody the equal chance to go to school without being discriminated against. I think a lot of people come to America because of all the equal opportunities this country has and this one is the biggest I think in my opinion. A lot of countries today do not have equal schooling opportunities and I think that is awful. As long as a person puts out the time they should be able to go to school no matter how long they want. Anywayz I am so happy that I was born in this time period because I have so many opportunities and I intend to use them.

The purpose of the Federal Trademark Dilution Act (FTDA) is to protect famous trademarks from third party uses which, while not likely to confuse, nonetheless diminish the capacity of the mark to distinguish goods or services, or cause garnishment to the mark. The enactment of the FTDA was considered by many trademark owners to be long overdue. However, with a few particular exceptions, the FTDA has failed to live up to its potential, and has failed to provide owners of famous marks the protection that they rightly or wrongly anticipated. Much of the blame for this has been directed at the language of the statute that requires a plaintiff to show that the third party use at issue "causes dilution." This is in contrast to more traditional trademark infringement law, which focuses on marketplace protection.
I think this act is good because there are so many people who steal others work. Why not just do that work yourself and be proud that you have accomplished something in your life. Maybe people will think twice before stealing other peoples work if not they need to be put in jail. If we had a serious reprocussion for stealing people work maybe so many people in the world would stop.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Trademark_Dilution_Act
TODAY I DECIDED TO GET A HEAD START ON MY BLOGS BECAUSE THIS WEEK I HAVE A LOT OF ASSIGNMENTS TO DO. FOR PRESIDENTS DAY I AM DOING NOTHING BUT CATCHING UP ON MY SCHOOL WORK. Lemon laws are United States state laws that remedies to consumers for cars that repeatedly fail to meet certain standards of quality and performance. These cars are called lemons. The federal lemon law also known as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects citizens of all states. State lemon laws vary by state and may not necessarily cover used or leased cars. The rights afforded to consumers by lemon laws may exceed the warranties expressed in purchase contracts. Lemon law is the common nickname for these laws, but each state has different names for the laws and acts. In California, lemon laws cover anything mechanical, as do the federal lemon laws. The federal lemon law also provides that the warrantor may be obligated to pay your attorney fees if you prevail in a lemon law suit, as do most state lemon laws. Lemon laws are not limited to cars. There are RV lemon laws, boat lemon laws, motorcycle, wheelchair, and computer lemon laws. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemon_law
Im think this is a good law because so many people by cars from used car lots and in about a week they don't work. By having this law they are getting justice from those weasel carsalesmen. If they did not have this law I think there would serious problems. As a used car owner I dont want my car not working after a week of driving. I never heard of this law before until reading and a I think it is a good one. I dont think alot of people know about this law either. well thats it for this blog I have a ton of things to do bye.
In 1972 Title Ix also known today as the Pasty T. Mink Equal Opportunity In Education Act was legal. The amendment states that: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Although the most common "public face" of Title IX is its impact on high school and collegiate athletics, the original document made no reference to athletics. The legislation covers all educational activities, and complaints under Title IX alleging discrimination in fields such as science or math education, or in other aspects of academic life such as access to health care and dormitory facilities, are not unheard of. It also applies to non-sport activities such as school bands and cheerleaders, as well as non-social fraternities/sororities, clubs and organizations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_9 I am very happy they made this a law because as a female I am able to do the things I want to do and not be put down because of my sex. It shockes me that this amendment has only been around for 36 years and before that women were not allowed to participate in these activieties because of sex. This also benifits all the diffrent races we have in america to. Everyone by this law is allowed to participate in whatever club, sports, or raternities/sororities they want and I think that is great because everybody likes different things. I am happy that I was born into this generation despite all the negative things. There are so many opportunities out their and I know I wont be discriminated as highly like back in the past.
In 1993 my little sister was born I felt so proud because now I could teach her the right things to do as she grows up. For example, when my little sister was five she was having difficulty with her reading. She came to me and asked for help, I felt proud because she could have went to my parents but at that young age I think she felt that I knew everything because I was older. As the oldest my sister looks up to me. For example, while my sister and I were in the supermarket we saw some money fall out of a lady’s purse. My sister went running for it she was not going to give it back until I explained to her why she couldn’t keep it. That was a special moment because she understood why it was wrong to take other peoples things and I taught her that lesson.
I also felt excited, because I wasn’t an only child anymore. I could finally talk to someone in my house besides my parents. I always wanted a sibling and now I had one. I couldn’t wait until she could walk, run, and play with me. The thought of that really made me excited. I was so excited I wanted every one to know that I was a big sister. I was also excited because at the age of four I felt that being an older sister was an important job. Sometimes I would help my mom feed and bath her. I would help her change diapers.
The jim crow law was made to enforce racial segregation and included laws that would prevent african americans from doing things that a white male or female could do. The jim crow law allowed separate use of water fountains and separate seating sections on public transportation. The law wasn't enforced in all states and communities in the united states. The first jim crow law was passed in 1723 when african americans in the state of virginia were stripped of the right to vote and own property. The jim crow law described that blacks were introduced to whites never whites to blacks. The jim crow law and systems were underrated by violence, real, and threatened. Blacks who violated the law risked their homes, job, and even their life. Because of the law whites were able to beat blacks until death.http://www.ferris.edu/jimcrow/what.htm
