Inmates at the Miami County Jail in Troy are under orders to paint the cellblocks pink to test the sheriff's theory that the color will have a pacifying affect on prisoners. Sheriff Charles Cox says he's entering the academic debate over the color pink's calming abilities. Jail administrator Dee Sandy says the first time the sheriff mentioned the concept to her, she thought he was joking. not so. She ended up picking a shade of purple for the jail bars. Previously, the jail's walls were cream-colored and the bars were painted blue. The jail, about 20 miles north of Dayton, houses up to 111 inmates.

I think this might work because pink is a soft color and it might helpthe inmates.  I think Diffrent Colors have different effects on people. If I was in a pink jail cell I think I would be calmer if I was in a black or red cell I would feel more tense because black and red are anrgy colors.  This idea might not work for everybody because everybody does not like pink and the color would make them just more angry because they are aggravated by the color seeing it everyday.  I dont think they should make the inmates paint the cell walls either if the sherrif wanted the cell pink he should do it.

               President Bush vetoed a health insurence  As Kat said I also think health insurance is very important.  President Bush vetoed it because is was the same bill from last time.  I dont know anything about passing bills or what not.  But by reading this maybe bush had a good reason for once for not putting this bill in affect besides the one e stated in the passage.  But for me I think all children should have health insurance becasue there are so many more life threating diesies in the world than ever if the children had health insurance maybe less fortunate parents would take them to the doctors office.  To us going to the doctors is a piece of cake and some of us pay little to nothing.  Some one on a low income has to save every cent in order to survive the month and if their kid is always in the hospital or whatever that could put their family in a serious problem.  I am glad I have health insurance and I have the parents who got me insurance.  I see alot of parents not getting their kids on insurance they say it is to much I dont know how much insurance cost but I think that is the one thing everybody needs.

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/offbeat/2007/12/05/az.naked.shoppers.ktvk  On Saturday about 3:09 a.m. two young caucasion males walked into a local store  to purchase skittles,tea,and a donut.  They had cash to pay for everything the only problem was that they were completely naked.  The cashier said the two men popped their heads in the door and asked if they could come in.  Theresa Dockstader-Carter said yes without realizing they were naked.  while they were shopping she just grinned and said what ever yall touch you will have to buy.  Dockstader said that the men were very polite and they did not seem to be drunk they were just out having a good time.  Samantha Cooley the manager of the store said she felt there was no reason to notify the police.  By looking at the surveillance camera they seemed to be harmless and just wanted to buy some candy.  http://www.azcentral.com/community/scottsdale/articles/nakedshoppers12042007-CR.html

I think this stunt they pulled was crazy they could have been put in jail.  They are lucky the two women working there had a sense of humor.  I wonder how they felt when these two characters walked into the store.  I know I would have been laughing because it is not everyday you see naked people shopping in a store like it is no problem with it.  At least they were not trying to harm the women they just wanted to get there food and leave it was just a harmless prank I guess. Well this is the craziest story I have heard in a while I put this story up because there is so much violence today and it was good to hear a funny story.

        Fish may be brain food.  I always thought this was a myth because this is not the first time I have heard that eating fish is good for people to focus better.  Maybe I will start doing this because I have finals coming up and I need all the high grades I can get.  But I think if the people scored high on the tests it was not becasue of the fish they would have to have known the information before so that part I think is not true.  By eating fish it might make you focus better but your test scores will go up I dont think so you would have to study to get high scores.  It is good that by eating fish it can lower a person's cholestoral.  I think everybody needs to have lower cholestoral levels because that is why alot of people are dying.  I just feel bad for people that are allergic to fish what are they going to do oh Well this is the end of my blog I guess im going to go eat some fish to help me do my math homework.  I will be back tomorrow

hospitals    I think this a great idea for the hospitals to make it more conviniet for the patients.  It is hard enough to live life now and think about all the difficulties if you had a physically or mentally sick person living with you.  I think alot of changes have happened to hospitals over the years and I think it is great they have a more respectful staff and alot more  security.  If I was in a hospital I think I will feel safe. I also think it will be good if a person could not afford some of the medicine they need and a doctor tells them they really need the medicine the hospital should give it to them.  Isnt that what's hospitals do cure people sometimes the prices on the medicine is so high that people can get it.  If the hospital was like their home they would feel more secure and happy not depressed because they miss their house and loved ones.  I wish you could come visit people anytime you wanted to.

          Oprah is a very influential person.  Anyone that has her to back them up for whatever reason can consider themselves very lucky.  For her to campaign for Barack Obama is her personall preference, but I do not think she should use her position to influence other peoples judgement as to who they prefer to be our next president.  Oprah is a positive person who definitly only what is right for everyone in the united states.  I think she should consider just campaigning through her television show and not going any futher than that.  That alone will probaly help out alot.  If Oprah does back Obama and he does not live up to her expectations or the expectations of the people she influenced, that could cause problems with in her career in the future.        Boy shot by police officer is now partially paralyzed- NJ.com ON Friday November 16, 2007 Marquise Randle was shot by a Roselle police officer.  Randle grew up in Roselle but he currently lives in Plainfield with his mother. At 6:30 p.m. the police where chasing him.  Police said Randle had ran from a nearby apartment building where neighbors complained that there was drug activity. He was shot in the alley near the corner of West Second Avenue and Locust Street. The bullet entered Randle's stomach and is still in the reigon of his spine.  Theodore Romankow the union county prosecutor said Randal was not a suspect. Randles family and Roselle community continue to question the circumstances about why they did shoot.   Over the weekend Randal's friends an relatives expressed outrage.  Because police failed to contact his mother of the incident and twice hung up on her when she asked for information about her son. The way the bullet transfered his body puts him in serious danger of permanent paralysis  Randle remains in serious condition at university hospital in newark.

        I think this was an very infortunant incident because an inicent boy is now laying in a hospital bed not knowing whteher or not he is going to be able to walk again.  I am just happy nobody got killed where he was shot at becasue a lot of kids play in that area.  IT is kind of weird that nobody was outside when this happend to be a witness.  I just hope Marquise will be able to walk again. He has a bright future and is an athlete.  I know he will be devistated if he can not play football again. 

       I ALSO THINK LIKE KAT456 THAT THE GREAT AMERICAN SMOKE OUT IS AN GOOD IDEA.  ALOT OF PEOPLE THINK IF YOU WANT TO STOP SMOKING JUST QUITE.  IT ISNT THAT SIMPLE BECAUSE FIRST YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SUPPORT, AND IT IS HARD BECAUSE THE DRUG NICOTENE IS VERY ADDICTIVE.  MY MOMS BEST FRIEND HAS BEEN SMOKING FOR ABOUT 38 YEARS SHE HAS TRIED TO QUITE BUT CAN NOT DO IT BECASUE SHE IS SO ADDICTED TO CIGARRATES AND SHE AFRAID WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF SHE STOPS. ANYWAYS I LIKE THE FACT THAT THIS HOSTED BY THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY AND THEY HAVE ACTIVIETIES FOR THE ADULTS AND THE KIDS TO INFORM THEM HOW BAD SMOKING IS TO THEM.  I THINK IF THEY ADVERTIES THIS SMOKEOUT MORE ALOT MORE PEOPLE WILL COME OUT AND MAYBE THE PERCENT OF SMOKERS AND TOBACCO USERS WILL GO DOWN.

          Kanye West the rap superstar's mother Donda West died Saturday, November 10, 2007.  Ms. West died Saturday night at Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Marina del Rey.  She was 58 years old when she passed away.  They took her there becasue she had stopped breathing at her home ACCORDING TO Deborah Ettinger the hospital vice president.  Patricia Green a consultant that worked for a publicist for west in the past told news agencies in the past that Ms. West died after cosmetic surgery, but later said she was unsure how she passed away in the first place.  Ms. West met with Dr. Andre Aboolian of Beverly Hills in June to get some information on cosmetic surgery.  Two weeks prior to that he told Ms. West she had to get a medical clearance so he could go through with the surgery. But he never heard from her again stated from  Jo-Ann Geffen the doctors publicist.  Mr. Aboolian was unsure about the procedure thats why he asked Ms. West to get a medical clearence because of the condition she had that could cause a heart attack Geffen stated.Rapper Kanye West's mother dies - USATODAY.com

       I think this was a tragedy we should really tell people that we love and care for them while they are here because you never know that time might be the last time you will ever see them again.  To lose someone that close to you can be very painfull and depressing.  I really feel bad for Kanye because that was the only real true person he ever talked about in interviews, his music, and on television.  I can not imagine what I would do if my mother was to pass away (god forbid).  I just hope Kanye will pull through this time in his life and continue to go on in his rap career because I really like his music and I think he is an real music artist.

         Security through identity This November Kean University has new policy that the faculty and staff wear a visible photo ID on the campus.  The reason for this is so that students will have a easier time to locate them in case of an emergency.  By the way no other New Jersey colleges are inforcing this policy.  They think by doing this it will boost security by allowing rescue workers to immediatly see who to ask for accesses or directions.  Scott Herman junior at kean quoted "If you see someone with an ID, you know who to go to". He also stated that " I suggest that every school does it," he said.  Just like any college they just encourage the students, faculty, and staff just to have the ID with them not on display so everyone can see it. Some faculty have already begun wearing the ID's around their neck even though the policy does not offically go into affect on November 15th.

         I think the policy is good because as a college student I sometimes find myself in need of assistance but I am not sure who to ask because they do not have ID on that tells me they work or attend the school.  I also think all the students at the college should wear their ID also.  I just think that by doing this the school would be safer and people would not be scared to ask someone a question because they see the ID.  If they do this I know the students would not want to but it would benifit them in the long run if something really drastic happens on campus.
